（KCRA）California Capital Airshow will take flight this year in Sacramento County

The California Capital Airshow has been cleared for takeoff in Sacramento County this fall.

The airshow was grounded last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year it will return to Mather Airport, and organizers say the event has been "reimagined."

The airshow will be held Sept. 24 to 26 and will feature U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds and F-35 Lightning jet demonstration teams.

Military aircraft will be on display and there will be STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities for the kids.

Capacity will be limited, and 50% fewer tickets will be sold "to provide ample space for all our attendees," according to a news release about the event.

Because of the reduced capacity, organizers are adding a drive-in airshow on Sept. 24.
