SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Five people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 50 Monday morning.
周一上午，50号高速公路发生多车相撞事故，造成5人受伤。
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the highway before the 59th Street overpass.
事故发生在上午7点半之后，就发生在第59街立交桥前的高速公路的西行车道上。
“The whole morning is kind of a blur all leading to that moment,” witness Asa Kania told FOX40.

Kania’s dash camera captured the moments an America West Ambulance rear-ended a white truck, which set off a chain-reaction crash. Multiple vehicles were hit and a moving truck was left flipped on its side.

“My first thought is, is someone going to rear-end? And then I see the rear-end happen, and I think I’m about to get caught in this,” Kania said.

Video shows Kania pulling over and breathing heavy sighs of relief before calling a 911 operator.

“It felt like I had just ran a marathon — not that I know what that feels like,” Kania said.

The Sacramento Fire Department said five people sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.

“I got really lucky and others didn’t,” Kania said.

Video shows the driver of the box truck climbing out after the crash. The driver told FOX40 that he, his co-worker and his 6-year-old son were all in the cab of the truck at the time of the crash.

While they were hurt in the crash, he said they are all doing OK now.

Kania said he hopes sharing the video will remind others to pay closer attention while behind the wheel.

“I had mostly calmed my heart rate down up until the moment that I had started watching the video and my heart rate went right back up,” Kania said.

He said that had he not been paying attention, he believes he would have rear-ended the cars in front of him too.

“Yeah, if I had looked down for anything at that moment, to change the radio station, I could have missed it and been right up on them,” Kania said.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash. Officers told FOX40 people involved in the crash claim other drivers were texting while driving at the time, but they cannot independently confirm those claims.

The CHP is reminding all drivers on Highway 50 that the speed limit is 55 mph in construction zones.
