（KCRA）Hundreds of job opportunities for Sacramento residents as state plans to reopen

As the state moves to reopen by mid-June, many businesses are facing a staff shortage.

In an effort to help match businesses to job seekers -- several organizations in Sacramento partnered up to create the 'Now Hiring' initiative, which runs every Wednesday until June 16.
为了帮助企业与求职者匹配，萨克拉门托的几家机构联合发起了“现在招聘”(Now Hiring)活动，该活动将在每周三举办，持续到6月16日。
The outreach campaign comprises more than 60 businesses in different industries that are hosting drop-in interviews, accepting job applications, and even offering positions on the spot.

"Whether you have decades of experience in the retail or restaurant industry, or you're fresh out of high school looking for your first job. There's something for everyone, so the front of the house, back of the house, bartenders, servers, maintenance workers, you name it," adds Cameron.

An effort that dozens of local business owners are looking forward to, for a full reopening of their establishments. One of them is Cilantro's Mexican Restaurant-- which for the past year has become a family-run business, "We're hoping that soon we can open up our normal hours but for now we're just adapting to the situation. Thank God that sales have picked up which means more work for us, a lot more work." Hiring has been tough for this business and they've had to reduce their hours of operation and only work catering events on weekends.

Several community-based organizations are also part of this effort. La Familia Counseling Center in South Sacramento is offering employment and training services.

"We have various workshops: resume workshop, interview workshop, how to dress, how to speak -- not in person necessarily because you're probably going to do your interview via Zoom, so that's different from pre-COVID days," says career center site supervisor, Susie Alcala.

Sacramento Regional Transit is also offering free rides every Wednesday to facilitate transportation services to job seekers interested in working in the downtown area. Show this flyer to the operator when boarding buses and SMART Ride or fare inspectors while riding light rail trains. Low-cost parking is available in the City of Sacramento garages and metered street parking is also free after 4:30 p.m.
