Police are investigating after an Asian-owned gelato shop was vandalized.
一家亚洲人开的冰淇淋店被破坏后，警方正在调查此事。
The owner of Yume Gelato said it’s the fourth time his store on Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento has been vandalized since the summer.

Multiple windows were broken overnight Wednesday.

He said it feels like he’s being targeted, saying the vandalism has gotten worse in the last few months.

The store was closed on Thursday as employees from a glass company boarded up the windows.

“I would say there’s definitely a spike in vandalism, especially right now,” said Philip Archuleta, owner of Brothers Doors & Glass.

Archuleta said he’s been called each time Yume Gelato has been vandalized.

“This seems to be an ongoing issue for this particular store,” Archuleta said. “I don’t know if it’s the same person or different people but he has been dealing with this and we have been by his side 100%.”

Archuleta said vandalism at businesses is on the rise.

“Since June of last year, this has been an ongoing issue where businesses are vandalized,” he said. “It may be multiple windows or drivers driving through.”

He said five windows were damaged at Yume Gelato.

While Archuleta couldn’t say whether the vandalism has been racially motivated, he said it’s time for the community to do better.

“We’re all in this together and we have to solve our differences and think of solutions,” he said. “Not damaging like this.”

Sacramento police said a motive has not yet been identified.
