The California Highway Patrol has identified 53-year-old Andre Chevill Wilson, an Elk Grove resident, as the man arrested.

Wilson is facing two counts of attempted murder and other associated charges, CHP reported.

DAVIS, Calif. (KTXL) — An investigation is underway and major streets have been blocked off after a shooting and a manhunt Thursday morning in the area of Interstate 80 and Mace Boulevard in Davis.

The California Highway Patrol said around 6 a.m., a pickup truck and another vehicle crashed on westbound I-80. At that point, both vehicles got off the freeway at the Mace Boulevard offramp.

That’s when the CHP said things turned violent. According to officials, the driver of the other vehicle continued to drive north and the person who was behind the wheel of the pickup truck fired at least one bullet, but it did not strike anyone.

A second vehicle exiting the freeway at Mace Boulevard was then hit by multiple gunshots, CHP officials told FOX40.

According to the CHP, the pickup truck driver tried to get back on the westbound freeway via the Mace Boulevard onramp. But the driver somehow lost control and crashed against a fence on the right-hand shoulder.

The driver then fled the truck, leading to a search involving multiple agencies, a helicopter and a K-9 unit.

That person was eventually found and detained, the CHP said. They have not been identified.

Mace Boulevard was blocked off from 2nd Street all the way across the freeway bridge.

In the meantime, the CHP said both the Mace Boulevard offramp and the onramp to westbound I-80 will be closed for a couple of hours while they continue their investigation.
