Students in the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) will soon have the option to return to in-person learning starting as early as April 6, district officials announced.

EGUSD said it be offering 4-day in-person learning – Tuesday through Friday. According to the district, several elementary schools will start April 6 with other elementary schools and all secondary schools beginning April 13.

“Our amazing team of more than 6,500 employees stepped forward and methodically tackled each barrier that stood in our way from reopening our schools for in-person learning,” Superintendent Chris Hoffman said.

In-person learning is optional and families who wish to remain on distance learning will still be able to do so, the district said. Schedules will remain the same for all students both in-person at school or remote.

EGUSD said learning options include in-person learning 4-days per week, in-person learning 2-days per week and full distance learning.

“We are excited that families will have three learning options to best meet their needs as we continue to safely and equitably serve our 63,152 students,” Hoffman said.
