The Modesto Police Department released body camera footage of a police shooting inside a Walgreens in the downtown area.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Walgreens near Roseburg and McHenry avenues after a traffic stop, where a passenger left the vehicle after being pulled over, the Modesto Police Department said. That passenger was injured after a chase inside the store. No officers or customers were hurt during the incident.

The man, identified as 30-year-old Daniel Ahlschlager from New York, is expected to survive the shooting, police said.

Body-worn camera footage from an officer shows him approaching the driver during the traffic stop. The driver answers questions and the officers he didn't know the name of his passenger -- only that he was from New York.

The officer is seen in video asking Ahlschlager if he had any identification or weapons. When the officer told Ahlschlager he is being detained, he runs from the officer, prompting a chase.

Ahlschlager then ran into the Walgreens, police said.

Ahlschlager is seen on video running through the aisles and away from the officer. Ahlschlager continues to run around the corners of the store until he falls. In the video, a gun is seen in Ahlschlager's hand.

The officer pulled his gun out in response and is heard in the video commanding Ahlschlager to drop his gun. Ahlschlager ignores him and continues to run away. The officer continues to chase Ahlschlager through the store while pointing his gun at the suspect.

During the chase through the store, Ahlschlager yells at the officer, "Hey, I'm gonna shoot," the video shows. The officer continues to chase Ahlschlager while yelling, "Drop the gun."

The video shows the officer temporarily lose sight of Ahlschlager. He sees the suspect again seconds later hiding behind a stack of unpacked store merchandise. The officer calls for another officer to join him as he tries to detain Ahlschlager.

Body-worn camera footage from the other officer shows him entering the store, gun in hand. He hears the first officer call for him and then shoots the man. The second officer is heard saying "shots fired" and "suspect down."

Ahlschlager is seen on camera with an apparent gunshot wound to the ear. When officers asked where he was shot, the man motions to his ear.

The police department said it is investigating this shooting along with the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office.
