SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The owners of a Sacramento jewelry store said a woman caught on surveillance video stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry did not act alone.

Liz Shoes Best & Fitted Outfits owners Arif Shah and Amir Siddiqui said a group of four women walked into their store on Arden Way Monday afternoon when Shah was working by himself. Shah said some of the women distracted him while another woman, pretending to try on a dress, forced her way into a locked room that houses the more expensive gold jewelry.

"She opened [it] with a screwdriver," Shah said.

Security camera footage shared with KCRA 3 shows the woman rifling through the shelves of jewelry, even prying them open with an object in her hand. She is then seen stuffing the jewelry into a bag. Shah said she got away with around $90,000 dollars worth of jewelry, adding that the theft happened in just a matter of minutes.

"This was a big shock because this is not a small item," Shah said. "We will be long-time suffering from this."

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are looking into this. Siddiqui said he hopes the women are caught, and in the meantime, he wants what happened at Liz Shoes to serve as a warning to other businesses.

"You have to be very secure, extra cautious and suspect every single person you see," Siddiqui. "Don’t trust nobody if you’re in the jewelry, especially the gold and diamond jewelry business."

Shah and Siddiqui said they are taking their own advice, and they will install more security systems at their store. They also said they have printed out flyers with pictures of the women who came into the store, and they have been handing them out to businesses in the area in the hopes that the women will be recognized. Shah and Siddiqui are even offering a $2,000 reward.
