Two students at a West Sacramento high school have tested positive for the omicron variant of COVID-19 and two others from the same class are likely infected based on initial testing, Yolo County health officials said.

The department has declared this an outbreak with more than three cases from the same River City High School classroom.

A sibling of one of the students in a different class at River City High School is also a likely COVID-19 case, Yolo County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson told KCRA 3. Another household member of the family is also a probable case.

Two of the five students were fully vaccinated, though without having booster shots, and had not traveled, spokesperson John Fout said in a statement. All of the cases have mild or no symptoms.

The department is recommending every student and teacher get tested. Additional testing will be provided to River City High School this week, including testing on campus Thursday and Friday.
