How SMUD, PG&E are preparing for possible outages

SMUD says line repair crews, troubleshooters and other field personnel are ready to restore power to customers if storm-related outages do occur. The utility says it can bring in additional on-call crews if necessary.

KCRA 3 got advice for homeowners and renters from Brian Holcomb, the owner of Sac Valley Clean. The company cleans gutters, roofs and windows across the Sacramento region.

He says calls for gutter cleaning have increased this week leading up to the storm for companies that provide the service throughout the area.

His best advice is to get your gutters cleaned at least once a year, before the first big rain of the season. You can do it yourself if you feel comfortable and can safely get access to your roof. If not, you can hire a company to help.
