There are plenty of ways to recycle your tree in Sacramento.

City of Sacramento residential yard waste customers can put their tree out for leaf season collection through Jan. 24, as long as the trees are not in bike lanes. If you miss that deadline, you can put the tree in your yard waste container, as long as it’s chopped up.

Make sure to remove all tinsel, nails and ornaments first.

Those who live in apartments, private streets or gated communities can drop off their tree for free at the Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station (8491 Fruitridge Road) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday through Jan. 9.
