The city of Sacramento is seeking up to 400 applications by Friday for 40 slots in freecoding training courses in a pilot program for people from underserved communities.

Those accepted into the program will receive a free laptop, a $6oo-per-week stipendand coding training that will culminate with the students being able to land jobs thatpay between $48,000 and $55,000 per year, said Barry Broome, CEO of the GreaterSacramento Economic Council, in a news conference.
