（KCRA 3）SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento County Health Department has identified the three areas of the county with the most COVID-19 infections by zip code: 95823, south Sacramento; 95670, Rancho Cordova / Gold River; and 95838, Del Paso Heights.

Sacramento County Health Officer Dr. Olivia Kasirye said the largest increase in cases is no longer among the elderly.

"With cases that we're seeing right now, it tends to be young adults, age 18 to 49, and we are seeing those high numbers in some of the zip codes in the disadvantaged communities," Kasirye explained.

This week, while things leveled off in Rancho Cordova with only 12 new cases. South Sacramento recorded 89 new cases, totaling 245.

The north Sacramento area of Del Paso Heights saw 52 new cases this week, bringing its total to 152.

Kasirye said this may have to do with multi-generational families living together and people in these communities forced to go to work because they don't have the luxury of staying home.

While that is true, Kasirye said the state ordering bars and indoor dining in Sacramento County to close is also necessary.

"In indoor settings, where people tend to gather such as in bars, it's very difficult to have the 6 feet of separation," she said.
